Working at Holy Cross

As a Jesuit, Catholic liberal arts college, the mission of Holy Cross is to pursue excellence in teaching, learning and research. The College seeks to foster an intellectual and social community that is marked by freedom, mutual respect, and civility. Holy Cross employs more than 1,000 full-time and part-time employees, including hourly staff members, administrators, faculty members, and members of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits). Each of these individuals helps shape the transformative educational experience that the College offers to its students.

We seek to recruit and retain faculty and staff who approach basic human questions from a rich variety of perspectives and diverse backgrounds. Our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion stems directly from our Jesuit, Catholic identity and our belief in the inherent dignity of all persons.

The Office of Mission hosts a range of opportunities for faculty and staff to deepen their engagement with the College’s mission. The Jesu-what? series, for example, offers an introduction to Jesuit education at Holy Cross. The Campus Colleagues Program invites a cohort of College employees to consider questions of meaning and purpose in our shared work. For those who wish, the College also coordinates opportunities for personal spiritual development for staff and faculty. These include an annual retreat in daily life, as well as periodic opportunities at the College’s Joyce Contemplative Center.
