Nutrition and Food Allergies

We believe everyone deserves a meal they can truly enjoy, no matter their dietary preferences or needs. Across campus, our dining locations are committed to providing safe and delicious options tailored to individual requirements. From Kimball Hall’s BASE Station — free of the 9 major allergens and coconut — to every other dining spot on campus, our staff is trained to accommodate your dietary needs with care and expertise.

More Than Just a Meal

Our dining services hold a special place in the hearts of students, offering more than just a meal — it’s an experience that reminds you of home. Students gather to share conversation and food that is consistently recognized for its quality, including being named one of the “7 Healthiest College Dining Halls in the Country” by Bon Appétit Magazine.

When you walk in, you’re greeted by staff who light up at the sight of familiar faces and classmates who feel like family. Every meal is prepared from scratch, using locally sourced, sustainably grown ingredients, making each bite not only delicious but part of a larger commitment to the community.

Commitment to Sustainability

Sourcing Locally

Holy Cross Dining is committed to buying locally grown and manufactured products.  When a product cannot be sourced locally, Holy Cross Dining seeks to partner with manufacturers that have a commitment to sustainability. Hormone/antibiotic-free locally produced milk is served on campus.  Most coffee served on campus is either locally roasted, fair trade or shade-grown organic.

Waste Reduction

Following the success of a 2009 initiative to go “trayless” in the main dining room, Holy Cross Dining put in place a number of initiatives to eliminate waste.

  • Filtered water is available across campus as an alternative to bottled water.
  • To promote the use of reusable beverage containers, discounts are given to customers who use reusable mugs.
  • Cook-to-order in all Holy Cross Dining locations eliminates as much pre-consumer waste as possible.

By the Numbers

  • 900 gallons of water saved per day with our "trayless" food system in Kimball Dining Hall
  • 100% of all waste recycled or composted in Kimball Dining Hall. Any waste that cannot be recycled or composted is burned for energy.
  • 0% usage of sytrofoam in Kimball Dining Hall
  • 100% of cooking oil recycled and turned into biofuel.
