Any emergency occurring on the Campus should be referred immediately to Public Safety at 508-793-2222. Public Safety is the emergency services coordinator on campus. All Officers are trained as First Responders. Transportation to a local hospital will be arranged or an ambulance will be directed to campus. Call 911 for all off-campus emergencies.
True Emergencies
Medical Emergencies:
- Loss of consciousness/ convulsions
- Severe pain
- Severe shortness of breath
- Difficulty breathing, swallowing
- Asthma/ choking
- Chest Pain
- Uncontrollable Bleeding
- Poisoning alcohol/ drug abuse
- Major injury i.e. head, bites, deep lacerations, puncture wounds
- Allergic reactions i.e. insect, food, drinks
- Burns - severe
- Drowning
- Fractures, dislocations
- Loss of vision
- Diabetic complications
- Severe nausea/ vomiting
- Severe pain
- Smoke inhalation
- Chemical splash
- Heat Stroke
- Severe diarrhea
- Rape
Psychological Emergencies:
- Suicide Threat or talk
- Bizarre behavior
- Actions dangerous to others
- Behavior related to persistent drug/ alcohol abuse
Non-Emergencies
- Earaches
- Minor cuts, lacerations
- Sprains
- Minor burn
- Insect sting - If Not Allergic
- Rash (unless related to allergic reaction)
- Sexually transmitted disease
- Fever (less than 101)
- Colds
- Minor sore throat
