Throughout the year, the Center for Writing provides workshops for faculty on teaching writing, one-on-one consultations, and in-class workshops on specific elements of the writing process to guide your students toward improving their writing:
Sounding Board Sessions are a great resource for faculty interested in discussing their own writing and research. You can set up an appointment by emailing us at centerforwriting@holycross.edu.
The Center curates a Canvas page of pedagogical resources, including sample writing and revision activities, materials to help you plan your writing assignments, advice for commenting on student drafts, and best practices for peer review.
Writing groups meet regularly throughout the semester and offer faculty the opportunity to spend concentrated time writing together and/or get feedback on their developing writing projects. We are pleased to collaborate with Amanda Luyster to set weekly and monthly faculty writing groups during the academic year. For more information or to sign up for a writing group, please contact centerforwriting@holycross.edu.
The Center also cosponsors faculty writing retreats, which typically take place in January and June at the Joyce Contemplative Center.
To request a one-on-one consultation or be added to the Faculty Pedagogical Resources page, please email Director Laurie-Ann Britt-Smith or centerforwriting@holycross.edu.
