The Chamber Music Program offers students the opportunity to play in small ensembles such as duets, trios, quartets or mixed ensembles with other students under the guidance of the department’s artists-in-residence and other performance faculty members.
The program is open to any student, music major or non-major, but at least an intermediate level of instrumental proficiency is required to participate. An informal audition is required for new students to be placed in the appropriate ensembles, which are formed by suggestion of faculty members.
Participation in the program is subject to the availability of suitable and matching players. Each ensemble is expected to find a weekly rehearsal time and coaching session as well as performing at the end of the semester recital.
