Sports Medicine First Responder

Job Description:

Reporting to the Athletic Trainers in Sports Medicine, the First Responder will support the Sports Medicine Department by providing first responder skills at athletic practices/games.

Job Responsibilities:
Serve as First Responder during varsity athletic practices/games

Attend to all injured participants by following basic First Aid and CPR protocols

Have a firm understanding of/activating Emergency Action Plans if needed

Call or direct someone else to call Public Safety 508-793-2222 if injury occurs beyond your scope of practice

Be aware of where AED’s are located

Responsible for keeping all certifications current

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrolled as a student at the College of the Holy Cross
First Aid and CPR/AED certified
Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations in a calm manner Available to work nights and/or weekends

Suggested Qualifications:

Massachusetts EMT Certification

National EMT Certificiation

Video Production: Broadcast Production Assistant

Position Overview

As a valuable member of the Holy Cross Athletics team, you will assist with game day network production duties for the College of the Holy Cross. This position will work closely with members of the Video and Network Production staff to perform essential game day functions, including setting up and breaking down broadcasts, operating cameras, graphics and replay systems, communicating with other members on the broadcast team and more for live shows produced on ESPN+ and other networks. This position is an excellent opportunity to obtain hands-on experience and is ideal for students who are interested in sports and looking to build their resumes. Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the broadcasting of  athletic events to ESPN+, FloHockey, and CBS All-Access

  • Setup and breakdown broadcast equipment before and after each production

  • Direct, produce, operate cameras, replay, graphics, and switchers for broadcasts and videoboard shows

  • Assist with postgame highlights when applicable 

  • Work home games on nights and weekends

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with or interest in video production

  • Familiarity with or interest in any or all of the following sports:

    • Football, basketball, ice hockey, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, baseball, softball

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn camera shot selections

  • Willingness to learn broadcast equipment

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to maintain professional conduct, even in stressful situations

  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at once

  • Must work a minimum of 150 hours during the fall or spring semester (if for credit)

  • Ability to work over winter break preferred

  • This position is also available for academic credit

Hart Ice Rink Assistant/Zamboni Driver

Basic Function:

This position will assist the Athletics Facilities & Operations Staff with daily tasks associated with the effective management and operation of the Hart Ice Rink, to include: operating the Zamboni, monitoring ice access, assisting reserving groups, light janitorial duties, and ensuring that the facility and equipment remains organized. Students will be responsible for other duties as assigned by staff overseeing the Ice Rink.

Job Requirements:   

Applicants must be enrolled as a student at Holy Cross. Underclassmen applicants preferred. Applicants must have good communication and interpersonal skills. Availability to work multiple shifts per week, including evenings and weekends, required. Previous experience working in athletics, specifically within an ice rink and operating a Zamboni, and work-study approval is preferred.

Position Overview:

The College of the Holy Cross Ticket Office is seeking motivated, hard-working candidates for the part time position of Ticket Office Assistant. Primary responsibilities include assisting with ticket sales for Football, Men's and Women's basketball, and Men's Ice Hockey, working game days for the 4 ticketed sports, and other duties as assigned. Men's Basketball Student Manager

Facilitate and organize the daily operations of the team - practice setup; helping with the clock, drills, hydration, gear, locker room. Help with games. Travel to and help with travel to games. Assist with video of practice and games, as well as practice statistics. Assist in game operations at various home athletic events including Football, men's and women's Ice Hockey men’s and women’s Soccer, Field Hockey, Volleyball, men’s and women’s Basketball, men’s and women’s Track and Field, Softball, Baseball, and men’s and women’s Lacrosse. Specific duties include set up and breakdown of home athletic events, acting as visiting team and officials hosts, in game ball retrieval, and providing exceptional customer service.

Non-gameday facility operations duties will vary by time of year in relation to in-season sports facility prep, but will primarily serve as a Front Desk Building Manager during non game days; unlocking and locking the facility based on provided daily schedule, educating visitors on building polices and tours, communicating to various staff if meetings are required, and serving as the first point of contact representing the Athletic Department. Various other facility tasks will include, but aren't limited to, windscreen hanging, goal maintenance, ice install, basketball hoop relocation, and other misc. tasks as assigned. 

Filming Assistant (Football)

The Holy Cross Football team has multiple opportunities open for film production. The program will run throughout the spring season and the regular football season, with the possibility of running a bit beyond.

This opportunity is great for any individuals who would like to get involved with the Holy Cross football program and learn more about our team.  You must be available for all practice times and be punctual.

Examples of Work Performed

Assist in physical set-up for videotaping of football events for both home and visitor cameras.

Prepares for transportation of equipment to football events. 

Assists in daily football practice duties of videotaping.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment which includes troubleshooting and maintenance of video equipment for on and off-site football events.
