Salut tout le monde!
I am Emma, I am 21, and I will be one of your French FLAs for the 2024–2025 academic year. I studied for two years in a literary classe préparatoire, also known as Khâgne and Hypokhâgne, in Besançon in Franche-Comté.
Then, I left to study German and English literature, translation, civilization and linguistics at the University of Strasbourg in Alsace. Now, I am studying for a master's degree in the English department, specializing in linguistics.
I am going to share with you as much as I can about my language and my culture, and maybe to debunk some stereotypes (don't worry, as French people, we don't eat croissants and baguettes every day). I am so happy to come because, since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of becoming a language teacher, and teaching at an American university is much beyond my dream. Furthermore, I am going to do everything to help you improve your French. I love languages, and I think that sharing them is also sharing different perceptions of the world. That is why I really love linguistics.
When it comes to my other passions, I love sports. I have practiced some of them (tennis, badminton, climbing, surfing, etc.). The two most important are judo and running, which I have practiced for more than ten years. Now, I especially run. I also love backpacking and trekking; it is all about going out of one's comfort zone and living simply. I love traveling, and one of my best experiences was milking goats in Slovakia with my best friend. And then, I am fond of reading all sorts of books, especially fantasy.
