My name is Mercedes, and I am thrilled to be one of the Spanish FLAs this year. I am 23 years old and I was born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital city. I am a Certified English – Spanish Translator, ESL and ELE teacher. I have been working in the education field for almost 4 years and I am really passionate about teaching second languages.
I have always loved traveling and getting to know new cultures, and I am lucky enough to have had the opportunity to visit many fascinating countries such as Portugal, India, Bhutan, and many more. I came to realize the power that knowing a second language holds during my two times studying abroad in South Africa: it is the bridge that allows us to get to communicate with other cultures – and that is why I decided to become a second language teacher.
In my free time, I love getting together with my friends and cooking something tasty, exercising and trying new things.
Last year, I got my Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language Teaching, and I can’t wait to put all of the knowledge that I have acquired -and to share my culture- at the College of the Holly Cross.
