About the Speaker: Julie Hanlon Rubio is professor of Christian ethics at St. Louis University. Her book, "Hope for Common Ground: Mediating the Personal and the Political in a Divided Church," is the winner of the 2017 College Theology Society Book Award and the 2017 Catholic Press Association Book Award for Faithful Citizenship. Focused on family, feminism, and religion and public life, her other books include "A Christian Theology of Marriage and Family" and "Reading, Praying, Living Pope Francis’s The Joy of Love."
About the Talk: Rubio draws upon moral theology and Catholic social teaching for resources in finding common ground with others who disagree with us politically. She suggests the most progress can be made in the "space between" personal and political, in local communities and intermediary associations.
Her talk is one of the Deitchman Family Lectures on Religion and Modernity.
