Date of Lecture: November 12, 2015
About the Speaker: Wendy Brown is Class of 1936 First Professor of Political Science at the University of California Berkeley and author of "Undoing the Demos: Neoliberalism's Stealth Revolution" (Zone Books, 2015).
About the Talk: Brown offers an introduction to neoliberalism as economic policy, as a distinctive form of governing, and as a form of reason that organizes everyday life. Brown argues that what neoliberalism does is remake everything in the world in the image of the economic. "Not just the economy," she says, "but human beings, societies, schools, workplaces, city planning, social life, psyches, and more."
The lecture is co-sponsored with the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies at Holy Cross.
