About the Speaker: Paula Fredriksen is Aurelio Chair Emerita of the Appreciation of Scripture at Boston University. She has published widely on the social and intellectual history of ancient Christianity, and on pagan-Jewish-Christian relations in the Graeco-Roman world. She is the author of "Augustine on Romans" (Scholars Press, 1982), the award-winning "From Jesus to Christ" (Yale University Press, 2000), and "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews" (Knopf, 1999), which won a 1999 National Jewish Book Award.
About the Talk: Fredriksen lectures on her recent book, "Augustine and the Jews" (Yale University Press, 2010) which traces the origins and growth of Christian anti-Judaism, while exploring Augustine's singular response and challenge to it.
Her talk was co-sponsored with the Worcester JCC and supported by the Kraft-Hiatt Fund for Jewish-Christian Understanding, the Jewish Federation of Central Massachusetts and the Jewish Book Council.
