About the Speaker: Jay Carney is assistant professor of theology and director of the African Studies Program at Creighton University. About the Talk: Carney considers Pope Francis' call for a "Year of Mercy," provides examples of how lay Catholic ministries are practicing mercy in Rwanda after the genocide, but acknowledges the difficulty of adopting a politics of mercy at the church or state level.
