About the Speaker: Adele Reinhartz is professor in the Department of Classics and Religious Studies at the University of Ottawa. During the 2015-2016 academic year, she is the Corcoran Visiting Chair in Christian-Jewish Relations at Boston College. She is the author of many books, including "Befriending the Beloved Disciple: A Jewish Reading of the Gospel of John" (Continuum, 2001), "Jesus of Hollywood" (Oxford, 2007), "Caiaphas the High Priest" (University of South Carolina Press, 2011) and "Bible and Cinema: An Introduction" (Routledge, 2013).
About the Talk: Reinhartz explores Jesus's Jewishness, specifically his observance of Jewish law and practice, and considers the good Jew/bad Jew dichotomy through the perspectives of modern scholars and the gospels of Matthew and John. This talk is supported by the Kraft-Hiatt Fund for Jewish-Christian Understanding.
