Date of Lecture: April 24, 2012
About the Speaker: When Germans invaded Poland in 1939, Rena Ferber Finder was a Jewish girl living in Kracow. Finder recalls life before the war, then moving to the ghetto, her time in Auschwitz, and working for Oskar Schindler, the German Christian industrialist who ultimately saved her. After the war, she was moved into a displaced persons camp. She married in 1946 and two years later, she and her husband, Mark, received visas to move to the United States. In the 1970s, Finder began speaking about her experiences and became affiliated with Facing History and Ourselves.
