Job Description

Information Technology Services provides campus-wide computing, networking, communication, and instructional technology services that support the academic activities of faculty, staff, and students. The Help Desk is one of the first points of contact and provides support through phones, chat, web and walk-in services. The Help Desk is comprised of both full-time employees and Student Computer Consultants (SCC)'s.  Students do not need to be Computer Science majors to apply. ITS looks for applicants who are interested in learning, working with people, and value technology.

The SCCs report to the Technology Support Manager and provide technical computer support to faculty, staff and students.  The areas of support include Microsoft Windows and Mac OS operating systems, software packages, Holy Cross sites and systems, various mobile devices, various email clients, internet browsers, networking both wired and wireless, and printing.  SCCs assist with computer and printer setups and retrievals, dual monitor installs, and lab support.  SCCs will also work with the Desktop Support Specialists and IT Asset Management Specialist.

SCCs monitor, troubleshoot and complete tickets submitted to the online ticketing system, facilitate the loaner program, data shred computers, maintain the student desk area, assist walk-in customers, cover phones, and work on other projects as assigned. 

The Holy Cross network (HCWireless, HCGuest, etc.) is essential to the operation of the College and its students. It is very important that ITS staff are made aware of any service outages as soon as possible. As a Student Computer Consultant, you would help by providing information about outages and general concerns with IT services, so that we may take appropriate action as quickly as possible.
