Yasmine Hamdy - Arabic

Ahlan,

My name is Yasmine. I hold a master's degree in Applied Linguistics from the American University in Cairo, where my research focused on the interplay of language, identity, and power in Egyptian musical public discourse and popular culture and its implications for teaching Arabic.

In addition to my 5 years of teaching experience at top universities in Egypt, the US, and the Netherlands, I am also a professional translator and researcher with diverse experience in UN translation, public policy, and international cooperation. As an educator, I am passionate about innovative practices in language instruction, linguistic variation, second dialect acquisition, and youth linguistic practices. When I am not working, you will find me reading, doing yoga, traveling, attending concerts, exploring museums, and savoring different cuisines.

I am excited to start this new chapter of my life, and to share my enthusiasm for Arabic and its rich culture and history with you. Looking forward to getting to know you all soon.

Salam,

Yasmine
