¡Hola a todos!
My name is Irene, and I am thrilled to be one of the Spanish FLAs in the 2024/2025 academic year. I am 25 years old, and I was born and raised in Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz), in the very south of Spain, known for its feria, wine, and dancing horses.
I studied English Philology and Translation and Interpreting at the Universidad de Córdoba, as well as a Masters in Teacher Training at the Universidad de Granada. I have always loved languages, so that explains my academic background! During my years at university I have studied English, French, and Arabic (though the last one is rustier than I would like it to be). I also love travelling and getting to know new cultures and people, that is why I have lived in Canada, Prague, and London. I have been teaching English and Spanish at academies, independently and as a volunteer, and I am very excited to continue this journey at Holy Cross!
This would be my first time in the US, so I'm eager to learn all about it, travel, and get to know the American culture while sharing my love for Spanish language and culture with my students.
In my free time, I like to read, sew, and crochet, but I also love listening to music and just hanging out with friends. I consider myself a very sociable person, so I’m looking forward to meeting you all at Holy Cross!
¡Hasta pronto!
