Ciao a tutti!
My name is Francesco and I’ll be one of the Italian FLAs the next year.
I’m still 20 but I’ll be 21 in August just a few days before being at Holy Cross and I just can’t wait to be there.
My hometown is Siena but I grew up in a village in Southern Tuscany in Val D’Orcia which means that I’ve spent my childhood and adolescence in a wonderful place that I love, with incredible landscapes, excellent food and wine as well as, of course, a lot of art and history. This is also where most of my friends live. If there’s one thing that I value the most about my village is its being such a peaceful place to live, it is very small and it feels like living in a big family where everyone knows everyone and where you never feel lonely. There are also several falk festivals and fairs where people share good vibes together. I’ve always been in touch with nature and one of my favorite hobbies in Val D’Orcia is cycling nestled in the countryside. Cycling in such a wonderful place is always extraordinarily relaxing and allows my thoughts to flow.
At present I live in Florence and I’m currently attending the second year of Philosophy at Florence University.
Philosophy is not just what I’m studying but it is also one of my greatest passions and I’m grateful for having the chance to cultivate it in an amazing city like Florence. Here, in the last two years, I’ve met many new friends, I usually hang out with them when I’m not studying or reading books. In most occasions I’m an extroverted and friendly person, I like going to the disco with my friends but sometimes I also want to spend my time on my own visiting a museum for example or, as most people do, just listening to my favorite songs.
I attended classical high school where I studied literature, Ancient Greek, Latin and art. I really love art and in the last summer I worked as a museum guide.
I’ve always played football since I was a child. In the last two years I’ve played for three different teams in Florence and I really love this sport but it isn’t the only activity that I’ve always done in my free time:
I’ve also played the trumpet since I was nine but even if it may seem a long time to have played such instrument I’m not a very gifted musician.
I’ve never studied abroad before and honestly even if I’ve visited several places (Spain, Belgium, Greece and other) I’ve never been out of Europe but I’ve always wanted to travel in order to get in contact with other points of view over the world that can help me to develop a better critical ability, but for sure I’m
also a curious person who wants to test himself getting out of my comfort zone trying to teach you the most interesting and useful things of my language and culture.
Can’t wait to start, ci vediamo presto!
