Introductory-level courses introduce basic drawing concepts with an emphasis on observational drawing. The department offers a range of intermediate classes focusing on themes such as investigating the natural world as a source of inspiration, discovering connections between the arts and sciences, drawing from the figure and the collage aesthetic.

Students use the resources of the college campus as a subject to practice drawing on site and working in their sketchbooks. In drawing classes, students are pushed to examine contemporary artistic approaches and develop their individual ideas.
