Our Initiatives

From free meal swipes at our Kimball dining hall, to Bagel Wednesdays, nourishing yoga retreats, mentoring programs, Mission seminars or holiday celebrations, our programming brings colleagues together. Whether you're sharing a meal, learning from a mentor or deepening your connection to our mission, you'll find countless opportunities to engage with the community in a way most meaningful to you.

Affinity Groups

Affinity Groups are employee-led groups formed around interests, backgrounds, identities and common bonds. Open to all faculty and staff, our affinity groups help foster a positive work environment and contribute to the College's mission by demonstrating a commitment to the Jesuit principles of justice and inclusion.

Employee Recognition

Holy Cross has multiple opportunities throughout the year to honor our employees. Here are a few examples:

Years of Service Awards Ceremony

At Holy Cross, we value the dedication of our employees - so much so that each year, we proudly celebrate our employees who have reached incredible service milestones, ranging from 5 years to an inspiring 50+ years. Our employees build careers here where they can grow, thrive and make a lasting impact.

Burns & O'Halloran Awards

Each year, the College presents the Claire B. Burns Awards to non-exempt employees of the College, currently working or retired, who in the fulfillment of their responsibilities have demonstrated, fostered and promoted the spirit of family, which is a treasured characteristic of the Holy Cross community. The awards program was established and endowed in 1997 by Donal J. Burns '49 in honor of his wife, Claire, an alumna of the Class of 1990.

In 2008, The Rev. William J. O'Halloran, S.J. Award was established as part of the program to honor Fr. O'Halloran's long years of service to the College, from 1963-2008; his closeness to non-exempt employees; and his contributions to the Claire B. Burns Employee Award Program.

You Make a Difference

At Holy Cross, we believe that gratitude and recognition create a thriving workplace. Our You Make a Difference program empowers employees to show appreciation for their colleagues through personal notes of appreciation. To take it a step further, employees can also nominate each other for a $50 Guusto spot award. At Holy Cross, a simple "Thank You" goes a long way!

Community Engagement: Worcester & Beyond

The Holy Cross experience is one that stretches beyond the borders of the campus. Our mission seeks to build a community marked by freedom, mutual respect and civility made possible through the commitment of our faculty, staff and students to embrace the call to be "men and women for and with others."

Community And Campus Opportunities

As a member of the faculty or staff here at Holy Cross, there are several opportunities to become more involved with our Greater Worcester Community. The Office of Government and Community Relations works with local, state and federal governments, neighbors and community partners to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that improve our community through opportunities to learn, serve and enjoy the City of Worcester.

HR Community Partners

The Jesuit mission calls us to be people for and with others, and that entails creating authentic partnerships to help create and develop a workforce that welcomes and celebrates people of all backgrounds. We are very fortunate to have several local community organizations to create mutually beneficial partnships and workforce pipelines.

Internships & Outreach

The College is committed to partnering with the community to create mutually beneficial opportunities for learning, development and employment experiences. Partnership includes organizations such as Seven Hills, Crozier House, Mass Hire, Veterans Inc. and more.  We are thrilled to partner with local technical high schools, including Worcester Tech, where we have hired more than 10+ high school co-op students into our Trades & Shop department.
