Hanselman Hall
Specifications
In Hanselman, the rooms are standard double rooms with traditional built-in closets and dressers. An average room size is 12' x 18' with tiled floors. Some of the doubles have been remodeled with modular furniture which allows for more options to rearrange furniture as desired by the students.
The Hanselman common lounge, kitchen, and study spaces contain a big screen TV and DVD/VCR player. Also in the basement is the laundry facility and a common kitchen equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, and stove for cooking meals. In addition, the study space is adjoined by a satellite faculty office where college faculty can meet with students to foster the living-learning community.
House Council organizes a variety of hall events such as service projects and dance parties, while other resident assistant-coordinated events such as the Hanselman Coffeehouse featuring musical performances create a community within the building.
Hanselman Hall was built in 1953 and named after the College’s 17th president, Rev. Joseph F. Hanselman, S.J., who served as president from 1901–1906. There are six resident assistants (RAs) and one head resident assistant (HRA) in Hanselman who are supervised by an Area Coordinator (a live-in professional staff member).
