Environmental Studies

Environmental Studies is a rich, interconnected and complex field.

Within the Department of Environmental Studies at Holy Cross, we rely on the Jesuit tradition of caring for the planet to inform our focus on the natural and built world.

Why Study Environmental Studies?

While we are faced with urgent climate crises, there are a growing number of jobs that address environmental concerns. Our graduates go on to competitive professional and academic graduate programs and into fulfilling jobs in environmental justice, policy, science, business, city planning, law, education, conservation and more.

Environmental Studies majors and minors have many opportunities to extend their learning outside the classroom by participating in research, internships and study abroad. Due to our physical location, we engage in thoughtful and responsible ways with the diverse urban communities in and around the city of Worcester. Many of our courses and events join community partners to address local environmental concerns.
