Portrait of Rev. John A. O’Brien, S.J. (1897-1963), who attended Holy Cross from 1914 to 1918. After graduating he entered the Society of Jesus and continued his education at Woodstock College and Weston College. From 1933 to 1948 he taught humanities and philosophy at Boston College. Shortly after, he served as the President of Holy Cross from 1948 to 1954. After leaving Holy Cross, he taught at Boston College and Fairfield University until his sudden death in 1963.
