Premed student describes his action-filled final year at Holy Cross

Like most students who enter college, Eric Yoon looked forward to donning a cap and gown, crossing the stage to receive his diploma and starting the next chapter in life. But as that day creeps closer, he is finding that it will be a lot harder to say goodbye than he thought.

From the personalized education, to the friends that he values so much, to the rich opportunities he was offered, Yoon will miss Holy Cross.

A review of his time during senior year shows why. Here, some highlights:

• Continued his research in the chemistry department by preparing and analyzing a series of new compounds, and gained new insight into how they work.
• Took the standardized Medical College Admission Test and scored higher than 80 to 84 percent of other testers.
• As co-chair of Asian Students in Action, helped put together the organization’s biggest event of the year, ExplorASIAn.
• Presented his science research at the 2008 National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society (ACS) in New Orleans.
• Along with three friends, took a road trip to Miami Beach during Spring Break.
• Completed his thesis and presented his work as part of the Academic Conference. The title of his presentation was “Modeling the Structure and Function of 3, 4-PCD with New Amino-Alcohol Ligands.”

His accomplishments aren’t over yet. On Friday he’ll become the first in his family to earn a bachelor’s degree — and in the College Honors Program, no less.
